11.7 Stabilizing your databases

Periodically, for performance reasons, you should stabilize your database. To stabilize your database, follow these steps:

  1. Be sure that no one is accessing your database and ensure no one will be trying to access during the stabilization process. For this reason, users find it convenient to stabilize their database during off-peak hours such as evenings or weekends.
  2. From the command prompt, type ``$ qstall YourDatabaseName''. Do not interrupt the stabilization process and be sure the stabilization is complete before accessing your database.
